In the Ph.D. work Dr. C. Chakrabarty, conducted a family survey of ten villages including Kapgari was made in 1984 to find out the economic condition of the community. He also used a development plan for the area and showed that the agricultural production can be increased seven folds.
In the first phase of the ECO project we conducted a partial family survey of 14 villages including Kapgari in 2012. We have compared the economic status with that found in 1984. We also have several new information from this survey. See results and question/answer pages.
In the second phase of the ECO project we intend to create a economic model based on machine learning from the 2012 data. The rules used will be based on local knowledge as well as experimental methods and feedback from the people. Our goal is to create an environment that would run local surveys on different topics, manage, maintain and analyze the data to understand the development of the community.
In subsequent phases we intend to create local expertise in data capture and management, creating scripts to query and mine these data and use them in local socio-economic analysis and sharing the findings via the web.
